Hello,
I need to get CG location of a body in Radial direction (in cylindrical CSYS) is there any way i could get it by existing commands (measure bodies) or macros.
Thanks you in advance

Hi everyone,
I have problem with selecting parts in NX. When I try to select parts in assembly by ctrl+A or lasso some parts doesn't select. The same assembly on other computer work well and I can select all parts. Anyone has some Idea what could be a reason??
Best regards

Hello, I have an automatically created drafting callout "divided circle" balloon with item number and quantity in the balloon. The quantity is more than 1 and I would like to have the balloon split into 2 or more so that I can show where the items are located in the assembly. Is there a way for me to split the existing balloon into two balloons so that I can specify where the other items are? I've checked the Documentation and Command Finder, but haven't been able to find anything. Thanks
Hello everyone!.
I have some experience with CAD, but not much with working in large assemblies. I think that the title summarizes my question pretty nicely - How do I use a closed edge of a non-work part to make a subtractive cut in NX 9?
Thank you for the help!
Hi All
I am having a trouble patterning some features onto a surface. The features are too complex and have to be modelled in large amounts on order to get the desired pattern. The process is too "heavy" for my laptop and NX to complet and it results in the software crashing.
I have tried modelling a few instances of the pattern and then extracting that geometry in order to pattern the extracted body feature. It is still too heavy to handle.
Any suggestions ?
Best regards Simon
Hello everyone!
I'm testing touch screen modes in NX11 and I can't see the full keyboard. Numpad keyboard is displayed without problems, but when I press ABC on top of it, nothing is shown. What is the problem?
When go into Part Family tool, I got a alert message about changed attributes
Could someone advise where to find and how to use Refresh Required Attributes tool.
So later I am not able to update family parts. It says:
"Updating member parts in family...
Member in row no 10 is invalid for update."
The same for every row.
Maybe it is somehow connected with changed attributes.
I'm trying to figure out if I can select a symbolic thread to place a callout for it in model using PMI
Hi Siemens NX users,
We have just started 2017 RUG meetings for USA area last week, it was a great start and we look forward to having you there.
For those of you have not registered or sign-up for this type of event before, please go to the following site for registration:
http://www.plmworld.org/rugevents
There are many different presentations at these events as shown below, and here is an example of the agenda at Cincinnati, OH:
We (Scott Felber, Tom Spangler, and Amy Reyes) will cover topics of NX11, NX1101, NX1102, and NX12. Most of all, many of our presentations will be live demonstrations of the product.
Topology Optimization
Import and editing of scanned data
Convergent Modeling for field repair workflow
Flattening and Forming of complex shapes
Combine command for trimming
for NX12, we have a few fun demonstrations
In architecture
Animation Designer, a new product
We are excited about these functionalities in NX, and look forward of sharing them with you, hope to see you there.
Sam
I know I've commented about how the nuisance pop-up windows in the modeling/assembly application pop-up right where you are trying to work and that I have to keep moving them out of the way; but now I have another request for info about another pop-up window.
When I am trying to export a PDF while in Drawing mode, I will hit the Export PDF command and then it seems like NX just waits forever. I'll finally see that it's waiting for me, but I can't find the Export PDF pop-up window. I'll search around for it and then finally hit the "Show Desktop" button at the bottom of the screen.
After hitting the NX button in the bottom taskbar, NX will maximize and I'll see that the Export PDF pop-up window had been hiding behind the Part Navigator window that I have on another screen. Is there a setting that I can change or something that I can do so that the Export PDF window will pop-up in front of the Part Navigator window instead of behind the Part Navigator window? It's not exactly helpful if I can't see it. Thanks
I have an assembly that was made from bodies in the concept stage which is comprised of several revolved bodies. The whole assembly is made of one component so the "assembly" is not properly assembled of separate components. I need to extract the cross section of each body and place it in a new part, and then revolve it. From there I will make the complete assembly with the individual parts as components. How can I extract a cross section of a body without a sketch to work from?
I've attempted to record a journal VB that selects a grouped set of lines and moves them a prescribed distance. Simple enough, right?
The routine works perfectly in playback. However if I subsequently delete or add any lines to the group, but VB code fails.
Examining the code, despite the fact that I selected Groups during the recording of the code, the VB code records the selection of each individual component.
Here's the scenario:
I have multiple Named groupings of lines, arcs, text, etc. all located at the correct x,y,z coordinates
Each group is assigned to a reference set so that I can pull one p/n over into a master assy and choose the correct reference set to indicate which geometry set I need. I know this may sound odd, but it is perfect for my purpose since I use the attibutes of each reference set to drive information table in my master assy.
The negative to this approach is that in my component file, all the lines, arcs, text, etc. is all a jumbled mess. It's simple enough to select things because they are grouped, but a simple routine that selects each group individually and spaces them out in the x-dir (and a similar routine that does the reverse, restacking all the groups) is terribly convenient for editing.
So, back to the original question, is there VB code that will select the grouped objects by name and not the individual lines, arcs, text, etc?
I cloned an imported stp file into a new job number using the rename name type. I now have all my assembly tree looking like I want it, but the name of each part, by looking at properties or on the quick pick menu are still the old name from before the clone, any ideas on this one?? Thanks
Hi,
some CAD or rendering software like Keyshot can utilize workstations in the lan to partecipate at the render.
NX can do this without to use an NVIDIA Visual Computing Appliance or VCA machine as the Ray Traced Studio remote rendering server ?
Hi,
someone has exprerience to use NX on the Cloud with Amazon AppStream 2.0 ?
Good day colleagues,
After updating sketch and applying mirror feature i faced with this error message:
Main problem is not error, i couldnt close it and i had to restart NX and lost my data.
mauby someone faced with that problem and how could i avoid that problem in future ?
Thank you.
P.S. sorry for english.
Customer ordered to convert existing 1up tooling to 2up tooling. I’ve to use 1up tooling components as much as I can.
In the drawing Parts List, reusing old components and same but new components should appear in two different lines with their balloons indicating which is old [Size column ==> “Do Not Order (use old)”] and which is new.
I’m trying to find a way to do this through Attributes applied to component level; without making unique filenames for the same new components.
My attempt is by having different values in the attributes at component level (e.g. = Size1; Size2;….) to make them appear in Part List’s different rows! Is it a possibility?
Hello, I'm working in an assembly and noticed that I have an "inconsistently constrained symbol" next to a component in the Contraint Navigator. However, when I expand out the constraints for that component, none of the constraints show as "inconsistently constrained". I went to the assembly navigator and expanded out the constraints and didn't find any problems there, either. Why would this type of behavior be occurring? Seems like dealing with constraints often requires a good amount of detective work. Might be good for people that like puzzles... ) Thanks
Hey gys,
little confusing situation. there is an reuse library created and the part should be placed in the assembly as "Clone" but evrytime i drag and drop it to a new file or asm it is set to reference.
So if i reset the Dialog it jumps back on "Reference". I did not find any Customer Default for it, in NX9, NX11, NX10. Also the Reuse Library Setting in NX10 for the Part Copy does not effect this.
I dont find anything in the help nor the internet.
I thought about to use the attribute pts_clone = not working
i thought about some things to write in the krx = nothing found
does some one got ideas or the solution?
Hello,
it's possible to render a component same as the photo?
Or how can I else render a component so is just like a cast iron or aluminum component?
Firstly I give a component a material for example iron. After that I change in Studio Material Editor the type to TextureLookUp and paste a png-file. But the problem is that the rendering is not similar in every part of the cylindrical component.
What I have to set up so that the rendering is equally.
I use NX 11.
Thank You,
Component Should look like this.
My TextureLookUp-file:
