Best practice for NX in Citrix XenDesktop

Hi

 

We are running NX10 / 11 on Citrix XenDesktop 7.6 with Nvidia Grid K2 - Win 7 with K240Q profiles.

It is in general running fine, but I want to verify if there is fine tuning that can be done in order to improve performance even more.

 

One thing that I have noticed is that often core 1 is working 90-100% while core 2-4 are almost 0% 
If i do an identical activity on a physical workstation all cores are at work simultaneously. Is there something in the setup that needs to be done to optimize cpu use in a virtual desktop?

What do we have to look forward to in NX11. Is there anything that stands out?

 

I am curious about the the stess wizard. Is there any enhancements to make the software more usabable?

 

Is there any enhancements that will make it attractive to upgrade?

 

Where can we read about this topic?

Increase performance of NX 10 MCD simulation

Hello to all,

for my graduation work I am about to work with MCD in NX 10. It is a plant with many parts. I found out that when I simulate the plant in the current state I have worked out, the processor only works on one kernel. So my question is if there is any way to increase the performance of the simulation for example by outsourcing the calculations on more kernels. I work with an Intel Xeon CPU E3-1240 v5, 16 GB RAM and NVIDIA Quadro K2200.

"Through face does not intersect path of the tool" while subtracting

Hi everybody!
I need to subtract a body and get this error: "Through face does not intersect path of the tool"
Look at the part file attached. It's a very simple model.
Everything is fine until you change helix(1) end limit from 40mm to 45mm. Then subtract stops working.
I tried to play with tolerances but with no luck. It makes difference but in a quite random manner.
Can anybody help me to adjust tolerances and explain what I'm doing wrong?

Is there a way to modify part name?

In the assembly navigator window, the descriptive part name appears to always be the part’s file name with the extension removed. That works fine for my purposes but I am wondering if that is just a default behavior that might sometimes be overridden.

 

..so my question:

Is there a way to modify the descriptive part name in the navigator window so that it is different from the filename.

Perhaps the answer is different for Teamcenter versus not.

NX 10 MCD: Memory leak ?

Hi 

We are running an NX 10 MCD Simulation with an OPC connected PLC. It should run continuously because it is a demo application. 

 

However, when the simulation has been on for about 15 minutes, its starts to slow down a lot and the graphics starts to lag. 

I noticed that the memory (RAM) is increasing by time when the simulation is on and the service ''ugraf'' ( NX 10) .exe is increasing in memory usage all the time.

What could we do for this ? 

The only solution we know that helps now is closing NX and restarting the software again.

Hole table: modifications to number of holes

Hello,

 

I'm a newbie to NX and I have a big dilema regarding the hole table.

I removed 2 holes from my part(hole table was already created before) and updated my hole table(has circa 150 holes) now instead of updating the hole no., I removed C10 and C11 holes, it leaves the hole no. like they were before, jumping from C9 to C12.......

Is there a parameter to set in the options/preferences window; I searched but I didn't find nothing.

Dimension a layout

Hi,

I've a layout where I've added some symbols. If I dimension the layout the value respect the planimetry dimension, but when I dimension the wall to the machine, the value doesn't respect the scale.

See the attached image.

Constraints between components

Is there a way to display/filter constraints to show what constraints apply to selected components?

 

Say I select a plate that has multiple components assembled to it. I want to select the plate and one of those components and see which constraints apply to both to those items... Hopefully displayed as list of constraints.

environment variable for Imageware Integration

By chance, does anyone know the environment variable for Imageware integration in NX10?

 

The online documentation states that UGII_IMAGEWARE_EXEC has to be properly defined but it does not state what it should be set to.

I am guessing that you need to add something in ugii_env.dat along the lines of

 

UGII_IMAGEWARE_EXEC =TRUE # or 0

 

 Interesting side note, I met someone who has the old Imageware floppy disks. They told me the software still works great.

Importing wireframe into a drawing

Hello,

 

I have a logo in a wireframe fomat (DXF or IGES).  I'd like to import it into my drawing template and use it in my title block.  When I import it it goes into the "modelling", but not into my drafting sheet even if I'm in Drafting mode..  What's the best way to approach the importation of wireframe into a drawing?

NX Cabling Cableways and Conduit

Hello gys,

 

i struggle a bit with the NX Routing Cabling part. I tried to figure out how the Cableway Properties and Cableways tools work, also what is the difference between raceway and conduit. ( ok i see in the library that conduit is more like round fitting stuff)

 

The main Problem is i cant find any trainings, allways only harness creation but for raceway and conduit not much, even the help does not help me at this point.

 

and it is equal if i try with NX10 or NX9.

 

If i wanna use Cabelways layout it let me no select any object.

If i use Cabelways properties and if i give a fill percatage it does not affect it if i make some cables on it.

 

Sorry im lost :-)

How long to save part family excel spreadsheet?

NX7.5, TC2007, Office 2013

 

We have a few part families with large numbers of members (5,000 - 10,000)

So we open up the spreadsheet, do what we need to do, create/update parts, etc.

It is slow, but acceptable.

But when we save the spreadsheet, it takes *forever* (for a 5000 member one, over 1.5 hours *so far*)

 

Is this expected?

Any ways to make this faster?

NX10 Expressions window no longer availabe.

when I was doing some animation, using expressions to change feature values. I generated a basic animation to test it. Not sure if I pressed anything but now, when I go to Menu>Tools Expressions are no longer available. I cant get the window to open so I can add or modify expression values. This is NX10, does anyone know what I might've done to disable the ability to get into the expressions window? CTRL-E does not work either its as if the feature of using expressions has completely been removed.

Stop Animation Preview

Anyone know how to stop an animation preview? I try to push cancel button on the interrupt window that pops up, but the animation conitinues to preview. Try pushing esc, but the animation conitinues. Anybody know how to abort it so I don't have to sit and wait for it to be finished?

EDM drawings

I am trying to draw some EDM notches. Right now I am just using the hole feature. The toolpaths aren't important at this point.

 

Is there a recommended method? I do not have a license for the electrode design application.

Hello all. Just a quick question that hopefully someone can answer. I am running Siemens NX 10 on a windows 10 machine. Modeling is not an issue but i get some major lag when rotation my model in simulation once my mesh is applied. When i solve my FEA and it list my system configuration ( i7 6500, 8gb ram etc.) it states I am using Windows 8 as my OS. Could this be the cause of or have anything to do with my experienced lag? Am i missing some kind of patch or update? Cheers. Luc
