Import into TC questions ? NX 9.0 -> 11.0

in NX11.0: Large assembly(500+pcs) import from native to TC:

1.) How to manually enter the revision in Import into TC-listing ? In NX 9.0 I could just easily write the revision: D,E,F right away into those pop-up windows. Now it is only "-" revision and it is greyed out to not allow to modify.

2.) What if there exist a "-" revision in TC already and I'm importing a newer "A" revision:

- Must the "-" revision be first flagged (=checkered flag) ?

- How to enter "update the old to a new revision" to Import into TC listing ?

3.) What does Numbering Source= Attribute mean ?

4.) When importing a large assembly and forced in mixing OS filename(=Create same name as in native: Some new and some exist already in TC ) and Part ID generator(=Create a fresh new TC name) why I must (Reset Attributes ->) double click each one to create the name ? Why does it not create these names automatically ? I have 500-700 parts assemblies and I must go through each part with double click to have the name created.

Lattice, License Error

Hi,

I am using NX Mach 3 Industrial Design (NX13300N) at ver. 11.0.2.7 MP6

Trying to run "Lattice" command I get License Error: License server system does not support this feature. [ -18 ]

What does it take to have this feature, or is it a bug?

Adding materials to FEA material library

Hi All,

I am trying to add Brass (CZ122) aslo referred as CW617N. I was able to run a  SOL 101 Linear Statics solution on NX 10 by adding the following properties: mass density, Young's Modulus, Poisson's Ratio, Shear Modulus, Yield Strength and Ultimate tensile strength. However, I believe that I need more parameters like Initial Yield Point, Stress-Strain (H) and so on to perform SOL 106 Nonlinear Statics solution . If so what is the complete list of parameters I need to input? And where can I find a complete list of properties needed for the material CZ122 (Because I have tried searching everywhere to find a complete list of properties with little luck)?

Thanks,

Dag

issue with Divide Face

I thought that Divide Face would split a single face into halves that can be handled separately. But it seems not to be the case.

As shown below, I select and hide one half. To my surprise, both halves of the divided surface are hiden!

Do I miss something? Thanks!

fail to snap "Intersection"

I have two curves on a face. I can create a point by "Intersection Point" with them.

But I fail to snap "Intersection", e.g. in creating a line with the intersection point as the start point.

Is it a bug? Thanks!

How to revert to component face colours at assemblies?

How could I remove all the applied assembly level colours and make all parts displayed in their  component level colours? I want to show applied face colours at components level in every assembly.

Inherit operation not supported for exploded views

I'm getting this notification when updating drawing sheets that have exploded views on them.  With view updating being as ridiculously slow as it is for large assemblies, I like to update the whole drawing while I'm gone for lunch.  However, this message pauses the view update process.  Any way to prevent this from popping up?

Is there any toggle swtich in sketcher, that would make all the to-be-created curves or points to be reference objects by default?

Thanks!

Translation did not complete for NX11

Hello guys,

I am not able to import ".stp" or ".dwg" files. (Any kind of translate).

The translator comes up then an error message "Translation did not complete".

I kept all the default options but still am not able to import.

Someone had the same problem?

I tried the JAVA fix, related in this post https://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/NX-Design-Forum/quot-STP-quot-inport-error/td-p/320877

But it didn't worked.

Also tried GTAC suport but they didn't fixed it too.
GTAC said that can be Windows 10 environment.
I tried to disable Firewall, Windows Defender and give all permissions, but it didn't worked aswell.

I have NX 11.0.2.7 MP5, 26Dec17 installed in Windows 10 Pro.

Attached is the log file.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Marcus.

Feature Group Name

Is there any way to get feature group names to show before the feature name in Part Navigator? Or is there a way to show a separate column for named features?

As it stands, a users is required to expand the existing column out.

Issue with circle selection method

NX has a newer selection mode: Circle. Most people use the default rectangle mode. But there are modes for rectangle, lasso and now circle.

I have been showing circle selection to people have found that it has a very, very poor performance.

When I use a multi-select rule that includes the crossing as an option it takes 20-30 seconds for NX to select the parts. There are only 322 components in the entire assembly and the areas I attempt to work on contain, on average 20-30 components.

Using rectangle NX selects, on average, in 2-3 seconds. Lasso is considerably longer at around 10-12 seconds.

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar results.

Any help would be great!

What does NX stand for????

Hello,

I am a design engineer that extensively uses Solidworks. We are now being forced to switch over the NX but I will refuse to extrude a single screw boss unless I know what the meaning of NX is. I must know!!!!!

Zone markings after upgrading to NX 11 in custom template

We just upgraded from 9 to 11. When I insert a new sheet (with custom template), it now puts large letters/numbers around the border. I notice in the drafting settings there is now a section for "zone markings." I'm not sure if that's what these are. I've tried disabling them in the active file, and in the template, but they keep appearing with every new sheet.

I've attached a picture showing them.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

weird result of Divide Face

The example below is extracted from a big model.
  • myFace is a Thru Curve Mesh surface
  • mySection (blude curve) is a section curve on myFace

Divide Face uses mySection to divide myFace. The result looks weird!

Could you help fix it? Thanks!

Image.png

If the plane of mySection is used directly to split myFace, everything is ok. My guess is that Divide Face would reparameterize the surface and Split Body would not.

Best way to use projected geometry as reference

$

Hello to all,

Would you like to provide your best way of using projected gemetry as reference. For example, I have projected the edges of the mdoel cause I would like to use their points as reference to create a line. But I always have a problem with automatic adding constaints. I know that connecting two fixed (projected) points with single line will result a problem with over constaining but if I disable automatic creation of constraints, line will have degrees of freedom so I can move it and that is not what I want. I would like just to use projected geometry as reference without warning about constaints.

Any idea is very appreciated.

project a line on a surface

I try to project a line on a surface. I expect that the resulting curve would be connected to the line. But it's not the case.

Why? Thanks!
