In the latest "Monthly Summary List of GTAC Technical Newsletter Articles", I saw the article:

This intrigued me, wondering how accessing a reuse library in the native world, would work when everything else is in Teamcenter, so, I began testing.  Since we currently only have the AIA_NAS machinery library installed in Teamcenter, and we have been debating which other libraries to add.

 

Article is meant for NX10 plus, but I got it to work with NX9, even found the "ReuseLibraryConfiguration.krx" which can't be exported until NX10, and I got it working for our group, via the Customer Defaults.

BUT, if you try to add any of this hardware, if fails.

Not surprising actually, but the article didn't mention what would, or would not work...

 

So, what types of things would work from the native world, in TC managed NX?  I have an IR in with GTAC, on this too.

with NX11.0.1 I've see some enhancement on detail setting, but like the image attached I'm not able to obtain. Exist e setting or I need to insert en ER ?

Hi,

on pippo_TAV1.prt I've add the CAM profile view using 'Layer visible in view' but I need to put entities in layer in master part, en extra work that I'd like avoid.

It's possible generate a solution like pluto_TAV1 using the reference component and flat-pattern#1 view.

I would like replicate the idea used for sheet metal part to add a special view that contain only the cam profile (SKETCH_000).

Just wondering how others are handling this scenario. I know best practice is to have the assembly used as a place holder and then create components inside, which is done most of the time. But, I like to put my bolts and dowels inside of the component that the are inside of and when I move that component they move with is and also appear on my part print if I wish. This is all good except when it comes to assembly mirroring. If I mirror a component that has bolts and dowels under it, it will not let me make the main component an associative mirror. Is there any way around this besides removing the bolts and dowels besides adding them after the mirror. Just wondering if any one else is dealing with this.

When creating a studio spline in a sketch, if I tell the spline I want it G1 to a line, at both ends, when I go back to adjust a pole in the middle, my "constraints" are gone.  Do they not stay?

 

If I create a geometric constraint, my spline becomes over constrained.

 

Is there anyway to control the tangency at the ends of my spline?

Hi,

in NX11 I cannot find the library with architectural materials, which was available in NX10. Is it something I must now manually install? Or is there any other library with such materials (stone, ceramic tiles, fabrics etc, I need it for boat interiors). I cannot see any of them in NX11 System Studio materials library. Below is the library I am looking for: in NX10 it used to become available after selecting 'Materials/texture editor in Advanced studio. I have uploaded the image of what I am looking for.

I use autoballon command to place the ballons and afterwards I move some of them in order to have a clearer arrangement. But each time I update some values in part list, the moved ballons go back to the initial possitions and I have to move them again. Is there any way to avoid that?

Hi

I have an Ideas body conversion to NX:

- How to change bend radius R when using Cleanup Utility ?

- Now it takes the customer default's R1.4 automatically ?

- No box to enter the radius of the sheet ? How could this be ?

I have plate thickness=3mm and R3(same as sheet)

In Mechanical Routing, is there a way to have NX automatically generate a routing path between two ports that will avoid all of the solid objects in between?  I saw a YouTube video that suggests that the functionality existed back in NX6, but I went through all of the Learning advantage tutorals, and I didn't see any way to identify solid objects as a keep-out zone.  I'm currently using NX9.

Once you have created mechanical routing runs, can you have NX automatically create the Logical Diagram for you?  What about the other way around (creating the diagram, and having the 3D geometry populated automatically?  In the Learning Advantage tutorials it just showed you how to create them independently and then compare them based on user defined names, but that seems like a tedious and inefficient approach.

Also, once the association exists, how associative is it?  Can you rearrange the runs in the diagram and have the 3D geometry update automatically?

- Lots of mouse dragging to get it inside the NX borders.

- What can I do to ? Change part's origo ? How to do it and how does it effect assembly ?

Hi,

 

I was wondering if there was a way to dock the Layer Settings in NX.
I often work with more bodies or surfaces inside one model. Instead of hiding/unhiding stuff - I assign them to layers. It bugs me I have to turn on the layer settings each time I want to turn a layer on or off.

 

Could I dock the layer settings menu somewhere?
Is there a better way to handle this?

Hello, there seems to be an issue where the numpad on the keyboard stops functioning within NX. Here are the steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Start NX 11 native in Windows 10

2. Click New to create a new part

3. In the New File Name > Name box, enter some numbers with the numpad. Works fine.

4. Press Alt-Tab to switch to another window, like file explorer or notepad.

5. Press Alt-Tab again to swith back to NX. Again, enter some numbers in the same box with the numpad. Works fine.

6. Press Alt-Tab to switch to another window again.

7. Press Alt-Tab again to swith back to NX. Again, attempt to enter some numbers in the same box with the numpad. Nothing happens, the numpad has stopped functioning.

 

I've tested this using the On-Screen keyboard, and the same thing happens. Therefore the problem is not with the keyboard. The num keys on the main row work fine, though. And the numpad works fine with other programs. Does anyone else experience this?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to insert a law curve in NX 9 which defines an ellipsis which begins at CS origin and ends at a specific point P (x_p, y_p) at an specific angle. Lamda is the angle the ellipsis is supposed to have at point P. I am using the following expressions:

x = a*cos(-right_angle+right_angle*t+t*asine((y_p-b)/b))

and

y = b*sin(-right_angle+right_angle*t+t*asine((y_p-b)/b))+b

with:

a = abs(SQRT(x_p/(x_p*m^2-2*y_p*m))*(y_p-x_p*m)) [semi axis in horizontal direction]

b = y_p/(1-m*x_p/abs(m*x_p)*sqrt(1-(x_p/a)^2)) [semi axis in vertical direction]

m = tan (lamda)            [slope at point P]

t = parameter for law curve which goes from 0 to 1

 

lamda, x_p and y_p are constants which can be chosen freely. When I try to insert the law curve I get the error message "Invalid Spine or law function data".

I already copied the formulae into an excel sheet and the graph looks fine. So the equations should be correct. Any idea why this is not working?

I keep getting an error message:  Error occured during display of part

 

Modeler error: modeler error: please report fault.

 

I click the okay button and I model seems to display fine, is there any way to diagnose this error message further to try and correct the error?  I've attached a screenshot of the error message, but not a whole lot of info.
