wave links not updated automatically in the assembly

Hello

I have a problem in assembly that I have seen many times. I have a linked body in a component. When I edit something in this component the linked body inside the component does not update. I must edit the link manually and deselect the original body and select it again to update the link.

I attached a movie to show you the problem. in the active component I have a link to hollow box which is not updated. I just edit the link and deselected the hollow box solid body and select it again to update it.

Updating the links manually takes time and I am always worried about links which may be not update.

I am sure all components are fully loaded (not partially) and my links are associative.

Unconstrained DOF in Assembly

In NX, there is a command for displaying the unconstrained DOF(s) of a given part in an assembly. In other less capable CAD packages, the unconstrained DOF(s) can be detected by simply attempting to move the part. If unconstrained, the part will move / rotatate in the unconstrained DOFs and when all 6 are constrained, a pop up message will notify the user that the part is fully constrained. Does NX have that type of DOF query method?

Help w/ Disappearing Datum Points in Draft Snapshot View

I'm working on a part that requires the use of a snapshot view. The part has offset hole cutouts, with the hole centers created using datum points. I want to display these points on the draft, however when switching from an unlocked view to Snapshot or Complete, these points disappear. They are within their own layer and included in the reference set, and the layer is still labeled "visible" in this snapshot view. Any help to figure out how to display these points in snapshot view would be greatly appreciated.

When I am creating and saving an item in NX, I am not able to find any name to an item revision,

when it is created through TC same name is appearing that is given to an item and for item revision.

Below is image an item is created through TC.(File> New > Item)

Drawing Update View modifications

Hi,

when updating a view breakout or a section definition, is it possible to configure if the result should be updated right away or later (when exiting the sketch/clicking ok in the dialogue)?

This view has automatic view update activated, but still the breakout will not update on-the-fly. On other machines this breakout will instantly update.

Pin Listing

Hi,

I use NX 12.0 for Electronical Routing.

I would like to use Pin Listing Command on Drafting application of Electrical module.

In this Pin Listing table, I want to show Unique ID which gives signal name pass through on each cable, pin number that reject from each pin terminal, and on the top of the table(header) I want to show connector ID.

I tried this issue by using Cut Sheet Annotation, but it gives me wrong results. For example, I used from_conn command to see connector ID but it gives me connector id that other connector cables come from. I just want to see Connector ID that I selected for pin listing command.

Thanks for advance.

Auto Balloon on each instance

Dear All,

when creating auto baloons for a part list in a Drawing, by default NX creates a balloon for each component. However if the are different instances of a component, the balloon is created only on one, while other istances do not have a related baloon. Is it possible to auto-create a balloon for each instance?

           Thanks.

MCD Linear Axis Simulation

Hi! I'm trying to simulate a linear axis and I have used an operation that, when a signal is high, change the position of a "positios control". Now what I whant to do do is receiving this position from a variable like an integer o so but I didn't found a way. The only one is using the signal adapter but it works only when the signal is TRUE since when the signal is FALSE you have to assign it a value too because the expression could not be like "IF THEN, ENDIF". Could you show me another way?

Overhang prevention angle limit (topology)

$

Hello,

To avoid the overhang voids in topology optimization the constraint Overhang prevention can be defined. The only option is the direction of "printing". I miss here the option of overhang angle. In attached picture is the topology result with areas where the inclination angle is over e.g. 45 degrees. In case of metal additive manufacturing all these areas must be supported with printing material and it increses the prise of manufacturing.

Is there any way to modify the facet body - inclination of face areas? Or how to get the optimized design with as less supporting as possible?

Any hint welcome.

How to change the ACS of an existing part

How can I change the ACS of an existing part ?

I do have a part that has already been modelled.

This part needs to be shared with other designers and has to fit into a bigger assembly.

However,

Now the X and Y axis are the other way around in the bigger design, so when placing this part into the bigger assembly,

it always needs to be rotated.

How can I flip the X and Y axis of this parts ACS, so when adding it to the bigger assembly, it is straight away in the right position ?

(Same for moving the ACS to a new position in the Part)

How to make align instead of touch

Hello

Nx Version : 11 TcE Integerated

For i have received some guidelines for assembly modelling.

  • To align the Shaft to Hole (Center to center constrain) we should always use the Align and we should not use the Touch constraint.
  • While constraining we should select the second component first and then we should select the first component. Example : If a bolt is assembled in the fully constrained flange then bolt will be second component and we need to select the center of bolt for align constraining.

Now the issue is while try to `Align’ command in `Touch Align’ most of the times it change the bolt direction (i.e., changing the bolt entry to flange – left to right or right to left like that, if a bolt is being assembled in engine front flange then bolt entry will be front radiator side or back reverse clutch side). We are try to use the `Reverse Last Constraint’ option and now the bolt entry is corrected per assembly, but the issue is `Align’ is changed to `Touch’.

Is there any solution to resolve or fix this issue.

Thanks in advance

Siemens NX and Nvidia Quadro - Driver issues still present

$

The current state with Nvidia Quadro drivers and NX:

It's been more than a year now that we - Nvidia Quadro users - are stuck with drivers that are from 09-2017, namely 385.69. This is also the latest driver Siemens hardware certification shows as latest supported.

We have had so many issues with Quadro's and Siemens NX when it comes to exporting to any kind of file format (dxf, step etc.), that we simply cannot update to any newer driver version.

Now with all these massive Windows updates (I defer the big feature upgrades months and months before rolling out to production sites), it becomes increasingly difficult to make sure all our Quadro's keep functioning with these rather old drivers.

It has been the major reason we started switching to AMD Pro WX cards; these have been working flawlessly from the beginning and get continual Siemens certification (even the latest 18.Q4 got its certification before launch date) - which is great.

My question is:

How come that after so many issues with NX and Nvidia cards, many many of which reported on these forums, either related to Quadro or non-Quadro*, we NX-users are still stuck with drivers that are almost 1.5 years old?! Why is nothing being done to fix this? It is incredibly hard to imagine that a huge company like Siemens and Nvidia are not working together on this; they must notice their age-old driver as being the only certified driver still as rather troublesome, no?

* (I know, Geforce cards are not supported, but they all share the same problem with the Quadros when it comes to C++ exceptions being thrown at exporting from NX).

In the current Windows eco-system wherein Microsoft continually pushes for faster and more updates that seem to rather break than fix issues, having older- and older drivers around (especially for the GPU) becomes increasingly hard for me to pre-test before rolling out to production sites (as Windows also gets more and more graphically intensive, leaning increasingly on the GPU as well). Just now Windows Update had some Workstations scr*w up their Nvidia Drivers, even though I let WSUS not update drivers and block certian updates.. It's a lost battle against the monster that is called Windows Update.

And let alone all the other CAD-software we have running around, currently I we are seeing increasingly more issues with AutoCAD paired with these old drivers..

And as you know, you cannot run multiple GPU-drivers.

I sincerely hope for Nvidia and Siemens to start picking up driver certification as AMD has been doing. Although it seems unlikely..

Internal volume of assemblies

I'm looking to calculate the internal volume of a complex hydraulic assembly, which may have some holes to be patched and which will require splitting into different areas.  The intention is to use the volumes for some fluid modelling.

One method I'd seen was to extract bodies and then use Analysis >> Advanced Mass Properties >> Mass using Curves and Sheets.  However I'm not getting quite the volumes I'm anticipating, possibly due to the holes that I have.  I've attached a picture of an example of how it's not what I expect.

What I expect:

Pipe ID = 22mm

Pipe length = 80mm

Pipe volume = 30,411mm^3

The value I got (20,273) is about 2/3 the value I was expecting; am I missing something using this method, or is there a better method that I can use to get the correct result?

It's probably worth adding that I'm using NX 7.5.

Is there a way to import a PDF directly into a NX drawing without having to create a solid model first? Using NX 12.

Ordinate direction.... Why?

Hello,  I'm working on a drawing and using ordinate dimensions.  When setting up the origin and margins, the margin typically automatically offsetts in the correct location; but occassionally I'll have the margin automatically offset into the part instead of away from it.  (see screenshot)  Since I am trying to do the steps exactly the same way every time, I have no idea why I'm getting different results.  Any idea of why this would be occuring?

This screenshot shows the part and also the margin on top of the part.  Why would this even happen?  Thanks
