The design department has modeled an end product part. My task is to design a test fixture to hold the part during factory acceptance testing. I want to use top down design to create the fixture using the end product so that the fixture dimensions are correct and are dynamically linked to the end part should it change in the future. However, I don't want the end product to next assemble into the test fixture. Or stated another way, the end item part should not be part of the EBOM of the test fixture. What are some key words I should be searching for on the interwebs and help files to learn about this.

How to export Part list used in assembly with PMI information
Hello,
I am designing a ship by assembling the individual part and the total number of parts is over 1000. I am using Simens NX 11. All the parts have their own standard attributes.
At this point, I want to make a part list that from my product assembly tree.
Is it possible to have a List of parts including there own attributes? So that I can have one file showing all the necessary information related to each part.

TEMPLATE in Top Down assembly.
I'm using NX11.
When I finish the parts in Top Down design, I have a problem when I using my own A3 template. I open a part designed in top down assembly, and go to drafting enviroment choosing my template. This one appears, but the configurarion is not the same like I have in my own template .This one works when I'm not using assembly enviroment.
Apparently the templete is the same I have, but has changed the configuration like screen color, hight texts, width lines, etc.
My template is saved in :\Siemens\NX 11.0\UGII\templates\drawing-A3-size2S-template.prt. I replaced the original NX Template with mine.
Any ideas about how to solve that problem.

what does that mean?
Is this a command that will be deleted soon?

where is my command in search?
Hello Experts,
I have another question. I still know from older NX versions where the command "Edit Solid Density" is.
When I use the command Finder it shows me the exact old locaton of that command ( it is in Menu / Edit / Feature / Edit Solid Density )
But can't it be that this command can be found also in the new ribbon structure?
Can the "Command Finder" show me the location of that command in the ribbon structure?

Teamcenter Links the UDF part under Item Revision when UDF used in NX
When ever UDF feature used in the NX, the respective UDF item is getting added under the Item revision of part, which use the UDF feature.
Is there any preference settings in Teamcenter to hind the UDF item added under the Part Item revision?

Define which parts are loaded as lightweight?
When loading an assembly, the options are:
- Fully Load
- Partial Load
- Fully Load - Lightweight Display
- Partial Load - Lightweight Display
However, what I need is the option "Saved Load", where the assembly is loaded in the state it was last saved.
Here's an example. When working on an assembly, where all components were loaded as exact, I make some of the components lightweight. I save the assembly, then the next day open it again with the option Fully Load. Now, all components are shown as exact, and I need to set the same components as lightweight all over again before continuing to work.
Is there a way to make this more efficient?

Save as JT behaviour of promoted bodies
In an assembly I have set all components as external and promoted bodies but then NX doesnt create JT Files of the promoted bodies. Is that intended? Is there a way to force NX to save JT of the promoted bodies. If the bodies are in the file, I think NX should save JT.

New NX behavior... HP Spacepilot
Hello, Within the last week, I've seen something new with NX. I've been using an HP "Spacepilot" for a few years now and have used it with CREO, NX 10 and now NX 12. Starting sometime this week, I'll be trying to spin or pan a model or pan the drawing with the Spacepilot and NX freaks out. The drawing will start panning and continue panning or the model will start spinning around and around. It won't stop unless I hit the cursor outside of the drawing or hit escape several times. It seems completely random. Has anyone seen this? It's crazy.
I've never seen it with anything else that I've worked with - just NX 12. From the other flaky things that I've mentioned in the forum, I'm not sure if this is a NX thing or what. It would almost be funny if it were just a joke, but it's irritating when I have to do a lot of other workarounds, as typical for NX, to get work completed. Thanks

Can not add dimensions to sketch groups
For some reason I am not able to add dimensions to a sketch group. I was able to do this before, so I'm wondering if I inadvertently disabled it. Is there a setting that controls this?

Component pattern behaviour
When we click on pattern command in NX12, the program start loading all (at least a lot) componentes and subcomponentes in the assembly. It is very annoying, specially in huge assemblies, and I think this behaviour didnt occur to us in previous versions of NX. Is there a way to solve it?
In fact, with others commands we find NX12 to freezee for a few seconds when start the command. this didnt happen with previous version either but i think is a different problem and not so annoying.

Facet: display vs. export
I'd like to make the facet display settings of common solid bodies (non-convergent, non-facet) to be always consistent with the settings for exporting STL files. ("What you see is what you get")
In Facet Settings, there are three tolerances: Edge, Face, and Angle. According to the doc, all the three toleraces would be forced with the unit inch. It seems that I should set Facet Scale to be Fixed.
In the STL Export dialog, there are only two tolerances: Chordal and Angular. They should be with the default unit.
Q: How could I match Edge tolerance / Face tolerace (Facet Settings) with Chordal tolerance (STL Export)? Thanks!

For a non-convergent/non-facet solid body, facet display can be generated in the graphics window by Facet Settings.

Reuse Library
Every since upgrading to NX12.0.2 I can not use the fastener I have always used in the re-use library.
This has worked in NX7.5 up thru NX12.0.1
These are the downloaded fastener's from the GTAC website.
I go into Library Management like I always have. add them in. When I go to my library and hit the + sign to expand and see the files folders below, that's it. The plus symbol disappears and nothing expands to show me my sub folders or parts.
Any ideas???

Move object command (CTRL+T)
I want to move some solid bodies in my part using the Move Object (ctrl+t) command. If I open the command I cannot select anything. If I select the object first and press ctrl+t it is working.
Is something wrong? In NX 10 it worked both ways, in NX 12 I have to select the object(s) first.
