When I start a new file only the "Line Designer" and "Drawing" tabs appear. I have reinstalled and it didn't fix it. Any ideas? I'm running NX11.

After I make an extrude with a sketch, the sketch disappeared automatically...
Originally, even though I made an extrude using a sketch,
the sketch remained.
But now, if I use a sketch, the sketch become deleted automatically...
How can I do setting this?

How to set default decimal places in modeling(sketch)
I want to set default decimal places in modeling(sketch)
With this setting, I expected what I want.
But when I make a new modeling file, this preference setting is still '1'
And
after I change this (in drafting preferences), I can get 3 decimal places in sketch...
So I have to change everytime I make a new modeling file.
How can I make 3 decimal places in sketch default..?

Clash Analysis - Intererence inside First level Assembly parts need to be excluded in report.
Hello Friends
While performing clash analysis it is producing the interference report with the Sub Assembly parts itself which is not required. For example if performing a Clash analysis for Engine then it produces the hard interference between the 2 parts inside the sub assembly called Crank shaft assembly.
Here the requirement is if any part which is first level BOM child in Assembly navigator of the engine then it should produce the hard interference in the Clash Report, but within the first level sub assembly hard interference is not required.
For example :
- If there is any Interference between 2 parts inside a first level assembly (Say Crank shaft Assembly) then it should be hided since it need to show in that first level assembly (Say Crank shaft Assembly).
- If there is any interference between the first level assembly and the part inside the engine then it need to be shown. i.e., Any part inside Crank shaft Assembly interference with the Engine Part Say Cylinder block.
- If there is any interference between the 2 first level assemblies then it need to be shown. For Example Crank Shaft Assembly and the Piston Assembly.
- If there is any interference between the 2 first level components then it need to be shown. For Example Cylinder Block and Cylinder Head.
Is there is any predefined settings or options in it. Or even after generated report is there any way to find, filter / figure out the interference inside the single first level Assembly.

Moving a component.... Unintended results
Hello, I tried to simply move a component, but I noticed that some other non-related components also moved. Any idea why that would happen. I selected one component, RMB and selected Move. After the component moved, I noticed that some other components that were onscreen were now missing. I zoomed out and saw that they were a random distance off in the opposite direction. I selected each of the component constraints but could not see how the components were related. Why would this happen?

2D model for analysis
I need to create some 2D models for FEA, and I want to use NX (since that is what I know). I created a test model (essentially a sheet surface) which the FEA software (JMAG Designer) was able to read in. However, it is treating it as a 3D object, not 2D (all the setting menus are for 3D geometry). I don't know how it decides what is 2D vs 3D, but I thought I would ask here in case anyone has some insight on this from the CAD perspective. Are there others ways to create a 2D model in NX other than using surfaces? Thanks!

Note Entry Delay
Hello, After installing NX 12, I've noticed a huge slowdown in operating speed. I've checked different recommended fixes, but it still isn't better. I've been spending most of my time in the assembly application trying to make do with the assembly constaints, but I've recently been spending sometime working with a drawing.
One huge slowdown in the drawing that I've noticed is in creating notes. I'll select the Note command and then try to enter text in the Text Input window. I'll start typing in the window, but nothing shows up on screen or in the window. Eventually after a huge delay, the text will slowly appear in the Text Input window. Any idea why this would be so bad? Thanks

Remove alert boxes in NX12
Is there a way to prevent the alert message from popping up when adding text to a dimension using the pop up dialog box. Having to go & pick the line you're entering text in after each letter is a real waste in time & frustrating. This would be in NX12. Never had that problem before in the other versions.

How to Open NX 12 Part File in NX 10
Hi,
I just made a bit over 30 part files in NX12, only consisting of a simple sketch. My group members are using NX10 and could not open the file and got the error "Not a Part File". I want to know if there is a way I can save all my files in a way that it can be opened in NX10? If I install NX10 at my school will I have both 10 and 12 or will it overwrite it? I really want to avoid remaking all parts all over again so any tips on this would be greatly appreciated. I tried attatching one of the files I made in NX12 that doesn't work in 10 and got the error "The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type". I have a comma in the name but I doubt that makes a difference. Should I save as IGS or STP file and then install 10 and open it there and save it as a prt file?

NX 10 hole thread feature tool, wrong drill tap size hole for M6?

Recently during a review process of an large assy one of my collouges drawing was rejected due to wrong drill size on a M6 threaded hole, it was created with the hole feature tool and selected from the "built in" list of threads under Metric Coarse.
A M6 x 1.0 with a Radial Engage of 0.75 is specifed with a Tap drill size of 5.2 and a M6 x 1.0 with a Radial Engage of 0.5 is specifed with a Tap drill size of 5. To me this seems to be in the wrong order, a higher engage should result in a smaller tap drill hole and this seems to be rule for all other Metric Coarse threads.
I have checked the defining file for the thread and it seems to be correct:

So somehow the NX hole feature seems to either grab parameters from somewhere else or this is small programing bug. I have try to change this file so the drill tap size for the M6 x 1.0 is the wrong order but that did not do anything. Maybe NX ,when using it with Teamcenter, collect feature parameters globally from Teamcenter instead of locally on my harddrive.
Any thoughts about what I can do?

Components aren't visible after unsupress ( via excel or expression )
I have a problem with our models and/or settings.
If we unsuppres items via our excel modules or expressions, the unsuppressed item is grey'd out in the Assembly Navigator.
The delay update feature isn't active, but there is a manual click on the "check box" needed to show the item or part in the model.
Is there a solution that the model is updated instantly? It used to work in NX 7.5, but after the update to NX 11 it won't work.

Part Families and threads
Working on a part family for the NAS1794 Nut, the replaceable nut for use in nut plates. So, the thread size varies, along with the height of the nut.
I've built the initial model, and created the part family spreadsheet, but I'm questioning the coulmn that relates to thread depth...initially I created the thread as "through body", but a thread depth parameter is still created. My suspicion is, I will have to come up with a way to calculate the depth number, for this, since it varies? or can I remove this parameter from the part family spreadsheet?

Ho to start the "Ray Traced Studio" programmatically using NX12 ?
Dear community,
I need to start the ray traced studio programatically (as oposed to a "manual-start"). Is there a way to reach this ? This is needed for an automatization process in withing the required application.
The starting of the ray traced studio is not supported by the standard journaling. However if the ray traced studio is already opend the save image (static image) is supported.....
I have tried to use the SendKey() command to try to simulate the "ctrl+shift+w" key combination (manual start) but this has not worked (maybe I need to learn more).
Any "progammatically-workaorund" is appreciated.

What kind of solid body?

I took part in an italian discussion (Solidworks forum) concerning Law Curve, giving an example of how NX execute the command.
One of the partecipants asked for if the sofware would be able to make a solid body from that path.
So I made a self-intersecting tube following that path.
The same partecipant asked for how the solid body would behave in a boolean operation.
In the attached file you see how one Unite works while the other does not.
I'd like to have your opinion on this.

Update Display missing from menu NX 7.5
Hi ,
I have a problem , the update display command is missing on NX 7.5 ( version 7.5.5.4) which installed in new workstation (window 7) .
The update display is availble on NX 7.5 (version 7.5.4.4) on another old PC.
Pls advice how to activate back the update display command ?

Feature dimensions displayed as PMI on Drawing
Hello,
Why is that if I set feature dimensions as PMI, I cannot display them on the drawing only if I use the Entire Part reference set?
I have tried the original PMI dimensions as well, and those worked fine with other reference set.
