Hello,

 

 

Some of the parts in my assembly appear differently than they should:

 

The bolts somehow received a conic head instead of the regular hex head

 

And this is how I want to view them:

 

We use screenshots to show progress and thus I'd like the bolts to be represented as they should. I've tried changing how to load the large assembly, setting things to lightweight, but the problem persists.

 

Oh and on the drawing itself the bolts also appear with a conic head instead of the regular hex head.

 

What gives?

Often a non-planar spline need to be examined from different directions. But it seems that  for each spline only one Curve Analysis (comb) can be created.

 

For a same non-planar spline:

 

Case A. I create a Curve Analysis (Projection = None), and look at the resulting curvature comb in Top view.

 

Case B. I create a Curve Analysis (Projection = WCS Z), and look at the resulting curvature comb in Top view.

 

Is the information from Case A mathematically equivalent to that from Case B?

To my knowledge, three poles together produce a unique degree-2 bezier spline.

 

I just find that, as shown below, with three defining points, there can be a lot of degree-2 bezier splines, although NX Studio Spline gives only one.

 

I wonder whether this might lead to some issues in using Through Points splines, and what rule need be follow to avoid them.

Does anyone know if there is an NX command that will eliminate excess surface data from solid faces? For example: a wing surface is used to trim a support body. Now the support body contains a copy of the entire wing surface. is there any way to eliminate the portion of the surface that is outside the edges of wing surface on the support body? This does not have to be associative, all feature parameters are going to be removed anyway.

Sometimes when adding dimensions to a sketch I'll accidently select the wrong entity.  The only way I know to undo that, without closing the dialog box or placing the dimension, is to click the reset button at the top of the dialog box. I'm wondering if there quicker way, like a keyboard shortcup or mouse button combo, that will do the same?  I hope so, as I seem to run into this fairly often.  Thanks!

If you have continuous auto dimensioning on, and you convert a dimension to reference, you get two reference dimensions (the one you converted and one created by cont. auto dim.).  Ok, maybe it's not bug, but definitely not desired behavior.  Regardless of whether the dimension is active or reference, auto dim should not add one if one is already there.

I try to build a Bridge Curve with G2+G1. To my surprise, a degree-5, but not a degree-4 spline, is created.

 

As shown in the red rectangle below, NX creates two additional poles where only one is needed to get G1.

 

If I want a lighter curve, it seems that I should use Studio Spline instead.

Hi,

 

I apologize if this is a repost, but I couldn't find a satisfactory answer when I searched the forum. I'm switching over from Solidworks, and I have a few questions about how studio splines work in NX:

 

1. I have a studio spline that I created by clicking on some imported points. Now that the main shape is created, I'd like to add some more points to adjust some bumps that resulted. However, when I go into "Edit Parameters" and try to add a new point, the point is just added to the end of the list, and connects it to the last point on my list. I can't drag the point to a different position on the list, nor can I seem to snap a point to the spline itself.

 

I tried the ideas suggested in this thread, but none of the recommendations helped.

 

How do you add a new spline control point to an existing spline? This was super easy in solidworks - I just right-clicked the spline and chose "Add new control point". Is there something similar in NX?

 

2. How do I close a spline? Even after I've selected the spline plane, the studio spline tool won't let me close a spline by clicking on the point I selected to begin the spline. Is there another way to do this?

 

3. Is there a way to display the spline poles? (I think that's what they're called!) There are grey shapes in the studio spline logo that look a lot like the "control polygons" from splines in Solidworks. Those were really useful in Solidworks, it would be great to be able to use them in NX as well!

Hi:

If the part and the drawing are in the same file, the fields in the title block can be directly filled in the attributes in the part, but if the drawing and the part are different files, how do you get the attributes in the part into the drawing?

Hi All,

I have created a dummy model to understand reference set. Here I have a problem regarding selecting the reference set

1. The NX default has EMPTY, Model and Entire Body

2. I have created one more set called SHEET with surfaces in it

3. When I switch to SHEET ref. set, it will hide all other things except the surfaces(Whatever the surfaces I chose will        shows up)

4. I go back to Model ref.set and hide everyting except the solid.

5. Now if I choose SHEET ref.set, the sheet will disappear!!!!!!

 

I need those surfaces when I replace reference set with SHEET. How can I choose reference set then??

I have the following scenario in an open assembly

 

1. I Make a part the displayed part

2. Modify the displayed part and save it

3. Close the displayed part

 

At this point the screen reverts to the gateway screen. The previous assembly is still open but not displayed. Is it possible to change the setting so that the assembly open when I close the displayed part?

Hi,

 

I'm currently designing a process for painting several suspension components in a dip-based paint line. The parts I have to paint have complex geometry, and because of this it is sometimes difficult to find an orientation which avoids process liquids pooling on the parts, and therefore being transferred to the next stage where it might react with another chemical.

 

My question: to help me predict where pooling will occur in a given orientation of part, is there a tool within NX11 that is capable of highlighting areas with little or no drainage? I would imagine such a tool using a defined gravitational direction and colouring the part faces based on draining properties.

Hi, all;

I'm looking for advice on building a new title block template in NX11.  We have our own title block in B, C, and D size, with our logo.  All the tutorials I've found start with the Siemens title block from NX, and I can't find how to scratch-build one, or how to save the Siemens one over to a new template file and how to modify it.

 

I'd like to import the title block sketch from AutoDesk Inventor if that's possible, if not, I can massage the Siemens title block.  What I need to know is the procedure for making a new template and/or for saving the title block geometry into the new one.  Thanx.

When I dimension a circle, it will put the dimension line across the diameter with arrow heads at each end to show the diameter.  How do I change that to the other format, where the dimension line comes in radially from outside the circle and touched the OD? Seems like it should be a simple thing, but I can't figure it out. Thanks.

Sometimes I want to use a segment of a multi-segment spline.

 

Since Divide Curve > At Knot Point would lose parameters of the input curve, generally I work in this way:

 

• create a Point Set > Knot Points
• create a construction line between two knots
• select the segment by Stop at Intersection

 

Is there a better way to do the job while keeping associativity? Thanks!
