NX Console?

$

Hi everyone,

with NX 12.0.1 mp1 there comes the new measure fuctionality, and in the dialogue window there is the option

"[ ] Send results to NX Console".

This has roused my curiosity for during the past 16 years supporting NX, I never came across the term of an "NX Console" before. Maybe I missed something?

"Console" is also mentioned four times in the "What's New in NX 12.0.1 MP1" document, but unfortunately it does not explain what it is or how to use it.

As I have not found an explanation neither in the NX help not at GTAC Solution Center,  I'd like to ask you to help me in becoming a bit smarter on this topic.

Thanks for your input & support,

cheers,

UMM

Deformable Tube with MIN_BEND_RADIUS

I am trying to create a Deformable Tube but with minimum bend radius set.

I have created Stock with MIN_BEND_RADIUS set, defined a spline in routing and created the deformable component.

When deforming the component at Assembly level I cannot get the stock to recognise it's min bend radius, is this possible?

Routing Characteristics

checking of thickness of a solid on the fly

hello all, i used catiaV5 before and it has a function in the measurement command that you can check the part thickness on the fly also the flatness of the face, is the same thing possible in NX too? checking the surface is flat or not is really painful, any solution on this?

MCD Double datatype

My team use NX11.0 to build simple mcd electromechanical model. The model works well in mcd using sequence control. When we turns to PLC control(S7 314C-2PnDP, KEP server 4.5 or 6.0) Boolean signal works well, but  double typed signal was forced turn to int when NX MCD read it from KEP Server. Of course it doesn't work due to MCD position needs a double data anyone help us?

NX MCD: Collision Bodies behave different on different computer

Hi everyone, I have a strange problem with MCD-simulation, that derived from a more complex situation I can reproduce with a very simple setup. Attached you will find a small zip with a MCD-Assembly consisting of two simple bodies. Both bodies are defined as rigid bodies including a collision body and are fixed with fixed joins. Both collision bodies are setup with a different category in order to suppress any "collision-reaction" between these two. The expected result, when starting the simulation: Nothing happens, both bodies remain still. On one of our computers, a HP Z-book, the result is different: the two bodies wriggle around, I can see the collision bodies are active. We checked several times and even reinstalled NX on the Z-Book and updated the graphic-drivers: NX is installed and run in the same way on both, the Z-Book and all the other computers (Lenovo-, Fujitsu-Laptops and Desktops, but the result is completely different

Enforcing Site-level customer defaults

Hello everyone!

Site-level defaults are defined, all necessary variables are set. But user's machine is launched with User-level defaults and drafting standard in drafting files is subsequently taken from the User-level setting, while Site-level settings and corresponding drafting standard is required. How can Site-level settings be enforced upon NX launch?

Trim a sketch line at a datum plane

Hi, All!  I'm new to both Siemens NX and to the community.  Please bear with me as I refer to all features, procedures and objects by the wrong names, ask interminal dumb questions and generally cause eye-rolling to the point of headaches.  I've got a demo copy of NX11 (until the bean counters get off their ***** and write a check)... and my boss has entrusted my green self with the task of creating 4 fairly complex models and 2 REALLY complex models in a month.  Lucky me.  What I've learned so far is, NX is really hard.

I have a sketch in which I need to trim a line at a datum plane.  I can't find a way to project the plane to the sketch, and the trim command doesn't recognize the plane.  I can't dimension the endpoint to the plane, either.  Is is possible to project a plane in a sketch?  Thanx.

On Content Help not functioning from the Siemens site

help.jpg

We use the Siemens site for our on content help because we felt that it would be the most current.

We find that it does not work for alot of commands.

This was converted into PR 9049121 but nothing is being done by GTAC.

It works for some commands but not for most

Is anyone else having this issue?

Associative views from master model drawing with "flattened" component

Dear Community

I am looking for a way to export drawings from one NX User to another in a different company. The goal is to export associative drawings in master model concept fashion. However I do not like to export the component feature history with this, I'd like the component to contain only the relevant body for drawing view creation without any features or feature history thereof.

Can anybody guess if such an option exists in NX?

How to do a solid with a 3D surface

$

All:

New to NX, using NX11, and I have a question about how to model an extrusion with a swept 3D surface.  I've attached a .zip file with 7 screen shots showing the model, and how we did the extrusion in AutoDesk Inventor.  The first 4 shots show the finished extrusion from 4 different isometric views.  The fifth one shows where the geometry comes from, two 2D drawings at a right angle to each other.  In Inventor, we would use a "3D intersection" feature to project the appropriate points from the 2D geometry (just like you did on the drafting board... remember those?)  The points would be used to create a surface, which would then be extruded to the existing solid model geometry.

I'm not concerned about how I get there in NX11, I'd just like some input on how the folks who are adept with NX would go about it.  The only caveat is, the result must be a solid model, not a combination of solid/surface model.  This is due to client preference.  Thanx for your support!

Component is Reference-Only

In Managed (Teamcenter) NX...

When a component is set to Reference-Only it will not be shown in the BOM (BVR), works as expected.

I would also like a component set as Ref-Only to not show when placed at a higher level.  How is this achieved?  Arrangements with suppression is all I can think of...

I see that in the ANT we can turn off the display of REF components, but this does not seem to effect the 3D display.

I am coming from 15+ years of Solid Edge experience where a Ref component does 2 things automagically:  1.) is not shown at the next higher level in 3D    2.) is shown in the draft views as phantom'ed...

My goal or need is to be able to take a top-level assy and identify all Ref components throughout the ANT tree at any level to show/hide assuming I have no idea at which subs they might exist.

Is there a way how to create the custom palette with more space positions than 216 - for example 300 positions

We are using the documentation without drawing and 216 positions is inadequate

Load case Error - Topology Opt

Hi all,

I started two Optimizations with quite the same components (little different)

One Optimization works well, with good results.

the other one gives always this error: " Warning: Load case(s) 1 have no loads. They will have no effect." and it quits the simulation. "Error: Simulation failed."

I used the same setups, also the loads are the same... I can not find the error.

what could it also be? like a a defective body, or ... ??

I have no idea=(

did anyone had a problem like that?

regards,

L

Drafting - starting with company template

Hi, we have company title block and border template files available for A0-A4 drawings.  I would like to use these instead of the Siemens drafting title block as the default.  They exist as .prt files probably created in older versions.  How do use them in NX11?  I am nearly a newbie, mostly just a hack, at CAD in general, so 2nd-grader explanation would be nice.

Thanks,

MCD ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO SIMULATE A ROTARY TABLE

Hi! I'm trying to simulate the behavior af a rotary table. In this case a 2 position one. Since I'm focused on testing some PLC logic I'm not interested into simulate it like in the real world but to me it is enough that it rotate of 180 degrees each time and input is raising up. That is just to start... then mybe I could go further. Attached is my WIP.Table.png
