NX11 Information Window Issue

$

We recently update to NX 11.0.2.7 MP3 and are having an issue with the information window. The information window is always on top now, even when NX is not the active application. This makes it difficult to switch and use other applications(Email, Teamcenter, etc.). Is there an option that I have missed that would cause this behavior? I don't recall this issue in previous versions nor in the MP1 patch that we used for a short time.

Hello,

I am trying to reattach a sketch that has lost its reference vector, but I get this message with no more information:

Matrix is non orthonormal.

Is there a way to solve this and set the sketch references again?

Thanks in advance!!

texture 3d

Good evening colleagues, I have pending a task with NX, the theme of putting textures, and I go to the community to see what possible solutions can contribute.
The theory is to use the flattening to flatten the surface, after put the 3d texture and take it back with the global shapping. The problem comes with multi-surfaces. Here are some videos of other software and I will soon upload one of what I am capable with NX.

How can I keep the constraints after use "Replcace component" function?

Dear,

I have a simple question. Now I have a assembly structure.

  • The part in assembly and the new replacement part both has same "Datum Coordinate system" location.
  • When I use "Replcace component" in assembly.
  • The new replacement part is found. But some error occured. "Component to replace is not a revision of replacement part"
  • If I still keep move forward. The replacement happened successfully. (The same location.)
  • But it losts its original assembly constraints. PS: I use the part "Datum Coordinate system" to lock the freedom of the original part.

Is there special set can help?

Best wishes!

Edward

Using Microsoft Application Virtualization for Deploying NX

Anyone using Microsoft Application Virtualization (AppV) for deploying NX to clients?

If you're unfamilar with AppV it basically provides a mechanism to deploy software packages to clients and then run them in a virtual shell on the client (including virtual env vars, virtual registry settings, virtual directories, etc).

I'm using AppV to deploy NX11. The package is getting delivered without issue and NX is runniing in the virtual environment, but on some machines NX hangs during basic operations and never returns. The client package has the correct number of NX files/folders. The permissions are correct. The problem occurs irrespective of user. Anyone see this type of behavior?

Thanks,

Mike Brown

colour spill and slowing NX

My computer configuration is old but I know it can do better than this. Now, from some reason, when I move the cursor accross any part in assembly it start very boring color spilling and last 10-25 seconds. I'm sending an ilustration of that and my configuration. Thank you.3.PNG6.PNGkonf.PNG

Suggestions about using arrangements with routing

Hello everyone!

Does anyone uses mechanical or electrical routings with the assembly arrangements?

I tried to find the ways to make routings adapt to arrangements but so far I have not been succsessful.

I think I might use alternative representations and suppress/unsuppress them for the given arrangement, but that would probably only work well with hoses, and not so well with wiring harness!

Does anyone use any proven workarounds or methods?

NX 12 - Installation Fail

Hi,

I just tried to upgrade to NX 12 (I am currently working in NX 10). I tried the installation procedure a couple of times, with scarce results.

the launch.exe application in the top directory does not work (nothing happens). I tried to launch the setup.exe inside the nx120 folder and the whole installation procedure went smoothly. However, after the reboot, there is no sign of NX 12 (everything is as before).

Color for "lost" fillet edges

$

Had a user ask, couldn't find anything.

- user fillets part

- then earlier feature is edited, and one or more filleted edges "goes away"

- User can edit fillet feature, and "lost" edges are shown "dashed", but in same color as rest of stuff displayed, so you have to really work to find them all.

Is there a way to get the edges that are shown as "dashed" to show as a different color as well?

displayed Reference Set of Component in Assembly

$

I have tried posting this in another thread, Reference set in Assembly but the system removes my reply as soon as it's posted.

I continue to be confused by NX load behavior of Reference Sets. I am a former CATIA user, and have been using NX 8.5 for 9 months.

As described above, there are situations when it makes sense to utilize the Reference Set definition of an assembly. In my case, all models in our program, details and assemblies have a Datum Coordinate System Feature. And in many of my subassemblies and installation models, I bring in other reference geometry in an assembly model to be used to position Components.

I have tried posting this in another thread, but the system removes my reply as soon as it's posted.

I have a particular assembly, let's call it '100', which contains subassemblies (110, 120, 130), which each contain detail parts (001, 002, 003). Every model has a Datum Coordinate System, and the detail models have construction geometry and a Solid Body.

Somehow I ended up with a sub-Component set to display Reference Set 'Entire Part'
Below is what the Assembly Navigator displays:
Descripitve Part Name      Component         Reference Set
   100                                                                    Model ("MODEL")
     101                                           101.1             Model ("MODEL")
       001                                         001.1             Entire Part

However, when I display the 101 as Displayed Part, all of the Components display their "Model" Reference Sets:
Descripitve Part Name        Component            Reference Set
    101
      001                                          001.1              Model ("MODEL")

So Apparently NX saves the graphical properties of all Components, sub-Components, sub-sub-Components and so on. For Example the Reference Set (and color, show/hide and other graphics) of 100->110.1->001.1 is saved in 100.prt. Whereas 110->001.1 is saved in 110.prt.

I tried correcting the Reference Set (and saving) in the context of both the top assembly and the sub-assembly, but I cannot get it to persist to the next load.
My 'Assembly Load Options-->Reference Sets' list is as follows:
Use Model
As Saved
Entire Part
Empty

Can someone tell me what I am missing?

PMI Cutting Plane Symbol

I am using the Lightweight Section View tool in NX to create some PMI.  I want to display the Cutting Plane Symbol in the source view but the arrows and the text are not oriented the way I'd like them.  This is not a Parallel / Perpendicular issue but more like I want to rotate the arrow and text about the axis of the arrow.  Or if someone can explain how NX determines the orientation to begin with (WCS?) I could set it up to get the results I want.  Thanks in advance.

Hidden view lines in draft

Hey guys! First post here. I started with NX a month ago and have run into a problem with drafting.

If I create a view that is the wrong scale (way too big for the paper) it is sometimes not displayed at all, as chances are we are too zoomed in to see any lines.

Is there a way to enable lines to show outside of my printable drafting area so I can zoom out and select them?

Thanks!

File Saved Date Time

I know you can see the last time you saved a file in NX11 in windows, but I was wondering if there

is a way to see when the file was last saved inside NX?  This may come in handy when you look up

and see the file was modified recently, but wondering if you can just get out of the file without saving.

... Compare that to your windows date and time. Sometimes you don't really want to save the file again

if not neccessary. Also I have undo'd back until the 'Modified' goes away.

I looked in File > Properties, but the only thing there is Creation Date and Time.

Thanks,

Cyl
