Procedure to create drawing sheets by multiple users and then merge into single drawing.

Hi,

I have a workaround to let multiple users work on same large drawing.

However, it works only if the work area can be split into separate sheets to be later merged in to one drawing with multiple drawing sheets.

If 1234.prt is the master model (even assembly also) and 1234_dwg.prt is its final drawing, then follow below steps:

i). Copy completed model--> 1234.prt for each user in separate folder/drive (because multiple users have to add drawing sheets to same file).

ii. Ask each user to create separate sheets in his own file 1234.prt in respective locations (Don't worry, create drawing sheets temporarily in non-master approach)

iii. At the end of the work, for example after seven drawing sheet files are ready (in different locations) by different users, export each drawing sheet while in the drawing session (File-export-part) into required new final drawing file 1234_dwg.prt. Make sure you select the 'sheet' from Drawing selection in export dialog.

You might get a message like 'to preserve associativity this part will be added as a component in the destination drawing file' Choose Yes here.

2nd sheet onwards, export sheets into existing part (because 1234_dwg.prt is already created by then)

iv. Get rid of multiple copies of 1234.prt and keep original master model. Also, keep 1234_dwg.prt as final drawing in the same final location.

Let me know if it is useful & works for you.

Thanks!
