NX 12 license server on Cloud or MS Sharepoint?
I'm working to set up a NX license server for a small group <10 people. We don't have a server or an internal network/VPN - all files are shared on Microsoft sharepoint and we mostly work on our laptops. We'd like to use NX across multiple employees (one at a time as we only have 1 seat).
Is there a way to set up an NX license server without needing to set up an entire network? Would it be possible to have a cloud server host our license such that we can check out the license at any location? Is there a way to host the license on Microsoft Sharepoint?

NX 11 and TC 11 memory RAM recommendation ?
Hello
I have been using NX and TC now for 2 years and in large assemblies 500-700 parts it constantly freezes the ugraf.exe process. Not responding.
I have 16gb RAM. Company has these old 2014 laptops Zbook15: i7(4th) 4800MQ, K2100M.
How much RAM do you people use ? 32gb ?
I think the company laptop is underpowered for purpose... :-(
Wish they would buy better like high-end desktops and not laptops.

k4000 video issues

Going on a bit of a tangent... @sdeters any unusual graphics issues with the k4000 card? and what driver are you using? I have one user with this card, the rest are using K4200. The user with the K4000 has issues with high lighting "sticking", where they have to run part cleanup to un high light a lot. He's gone thru a lot of different video drivers. Those of us using the K4200 are all working fine with the 377.11 driver.

This stp file import/export seems to be fixed in NX12, Not in NX11.
They have been pretty good cards for us, not many issues.
Other than that, other issue include, In NX, Displaying dialogue boxes on your second monitor, the icons in the dialouge boxes do not show up. When I move these boxes to the primary monitor the icons start to show up.
the driver I am running now, which I would not reccomend is 391.33 . I did roll back to this one, But 3Ds max does not like this driver. http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/123912/en-us It seems to work the best for us.
Is the user running NX on the user Primary monitor, or on the secondary monitor? I always mention to our users to run NX on your primary display. Seems to be a little bit more robust.

measurment accuracy ?
I have a part that is around 4500 cubic inches. I measure the volume of this part, and then use the density to calculate the weight.
There is an accuracy setting, I believe its: FILE/PREFERENCES/MEASURMENTS/ACCURACY
and the default is 0.99 , I think it will let you change it in the customer defaults up to a maximum of 0.99999 , at least on the package we have at work.
My question is, changing it between these values, changes my weight by up to 50 lbs. for example, changing the accuracy from 0.99 to 0.999 will give me a drastically different volume. This is happening to other people with other parts as well. Any ideas !?
BWT, this is a low density material, so even a large volume change should only result in a several lb difference, not 50

save and restore views
Hi, All! I'm coming from Inventor, which has a cute feature called a "view cube" which allows the user to select any of 6 faces of a cube, or any of 8 corners of the cube and orients the model view to that. I'd like to set some saved views in NX11 to the corner (isometric) views. I found a way (I think) to set the view, menu>view>operation>saveas
I can't find how to go to the saved view. I tried searching the NX community, tried googling, but I apparently am not using the right terminology, 'cuz I get everything BUT how to go to the saved view!

Thread in a curve part. NX 11
Hi,
I need to make a M185x6 thread in the 4 holes of the piece I attach. I use the thread command and a windows appears that says: "name". I don't know the name I have to write. How I can draw a thread in a curve part? I'm using NX11 and I hadn't had this problem with NX8 or NX 9. Please any body can help me how to draw a M185x6 thread?
The part I attach come from a stp file. The customer draw completely the part with threads. A colleage from our CAM Department said me that in NX CAM Enviroment can't read the thread that customer had drawn. So that , I'm trying to do it for myself using synchronous modeling, deleting faces and making again the threads and I find the problem described before. Is it necessary to do something in cam enviroment to make it work?

Product Template Studio in NX launched via Teamcenter
Anyone knows or point me to documentation on how to set Product Template Studio (PTS) in Teamcenter11, to be used in NX11 managed mode?
In NX 11, PTS application is within NX, need to launch NX. So we would like to use PTS Author (and parts created using PTS) in NX when launched via Teamcenter.

Possible to 'unite' (or attach) bodies or sheets into a single unparamaterized feature/body?
I have a unique scenereo where I have several solid bodies (faces, actually... but they're called bodies in the assembly navigator) in a part, that are NOT connected or intersecting, that I would like to unite or combine as a single feature. Im aware of feature groups but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Ideally I'd like to be able to then take that feature and 'remove parameters', which feature group doesn't work with.
does something like this exist? Can UG see two spererate, unconnected objects/sets a of faces, as a single object?

Adding draft question
Hi, All! I'm modeling a fairly complex part in NX11, and I need some guidance. I'm trying to put draft on it and I can't figure out how. I've attached the model, zipped (if it's not too big).
I need to put draft on the model splitting it at the X-Y plane. My concern, and the reason I'm posting this, is I'm concerned I may have started the model all wrong. Please take a quick look and let me know if I can put draft on this model as I've described. Thanx.

Is there a list of text format keys for Drafting?
Is there a list of formatting keys for text in Drafting? For example, if I want to increase the size of a portion of text, I would insert <C2.00> to make the text 2 x size and then <C> to get back to normal text size. What I am looking for in particular is a way to add a "strikethrough" for a portion of text. But also, if I could get my hands on a complete list of formatting codes, it would be even better. Thanks.
