Currently NX10, TC11.1.2.3
Right now all our title block data is manually entered, so people type in the name they "want" (there are standards) for the signoff block.
E.g. I would be "KG AKERBOOM"
Standard is:
- first 2 initials + last name
- all uppercase
For some users, they add "JR" (junior) or "III" (the 3rd) or whatever, or an extra initial, or other variations as needed/accepted by configuration management.
We are trying to move to a more automated block, filled out using workflows or TC properties, etc. and I'd like to use Teamcenter data, but....
1) My username is "kakerboo" (which, compared to the standard, is missing an initial and space, last name truncated, also not all uppercase)
2) There's another TC property/??? (I'm not sure the technical term) that shows "Akerboom, Ken" (which, compared to the standard, is not first initial, missing middle initial, also not all uppercase)
Also note neither of these allow the user to modify their "name" (e.g. to add "JR").
What do other companies do for this?
- Use TC username (which is unique) "as is" and ignore the other issues?
..... - side issue, do you make your TC usernames UPPERCASE?
- Use the other TC property, "as is" and ignore the other issues?
- Set the other TC "property" (or whatever) to "KG AKERBOOM", instead of "Akerboom, Ken"?
- Add a property (or ???) to user accounts to store the "KG AKERBOOM" version? (if so, do you make it user-editable?)
- Something else?
Thanks for your thoughts/ideas...
