Parasolid format import: Control over assembly components

Hi All,

Recently I came up with an issue regarding the parasolid files. Customer had sent an assembly file with parasolid format instead of STEP. While opening the assembly in NX10, it took long time to process and finally displayed the part after 15 minutes(Coz took time to process individual components)Also resulted in numerous components instead of single assembly file. Unlike in STEP format;it would've resulted in single assembly file. Any specific procedure is followed in parasolid formad to get single assembly file??. Please let me know if any.

One more thing: Few times,I have imported the parasolid files. Usually it can be opened like STEP format.Is there any control over it!!
