I'm not an engineer but I am trying to help some- so bear with me, please. Also they are on NX9. I would like to know where the center of gravity calculations are caclculated from. Are the cg number based on the WCS or absolute? That is the question I am getting.
What this group is doing is trying to calcuate the cg of tools attached to robot arms. They would like to know the cg values based from the knuckle of the robot arm. Is it just a a simple thing to move the wcs to the knuckle location and then run the calculations?
I would also like to know how what are the best practices for assigning mass in the assy weight management tool. The customer gets a lot of imported geometry and still needs to be able to do mass property calculations. I've read a recent thread on this and Taylor mentions that asserted mass in weight mgt is not used in the mass property calculations- bumber. But I'd still like to know what people are doing to find the mass properties and cgs of assemblies with both mfg parts (done in NX) and purchased parts that are going to have assert weights.
